Non-profit organizations of nanoindustry
Non-profit organizations of nanoindustry
Non-profit organizations are created in different sectors of the economy to meet the challenges of market regulation, product promotion, attraction of investments, development of standards, lobbying in government. How effective are non-profit organizations working in the nanotechnology industry, in particular Nanotechnology Society of Russia (NSR) and the the Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry (IAN)? This question is answered by our experts.

Head of Department of Research
of Physicomechanical Properties
Technological Institute for Superhard
and Novel Carbon Materials, Ph.D.
We very carefully monitor the activities of Nanotechnological Society of Russia and Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry, even though we are not their members. The main function of these organizations is to collect and publish the latest information about high-tech developments and products appearing on the market, also about the most important events in the field of nanotechnology. Thus, information flows between them are very well separated: on the resources of Nanotechnological Society of Russia the vast majority of publications highlights the issues of research and announcements of conferences, and activities of Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry primarily associated with a specific, practical issues such as the database of nanotechnology products, specific information about high-tech companies, announcements of exhibitions. Which is nice, both projects are live – information is updated almost in real time with use of all modern means of information delivery – forums, mailing lists, etc.
As a positive moment, I want to note a democratic approach to development of information databases of products of nanotechnology companies in the Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry system. Unlike other similar attempts (for example, Nanocertifica), there is no red tape and do not require money. Psychologically this is very important from the point of view of the development of this system across the country.
In General, we can say that the set of information functions of Nanotechnological Society of Russia and Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry quite meet their goals. I wish only better filling of databases and expansion of geography of the presented companies. Perhaps, it isn't necessary to wait for arrival of the companies, and to look for and to attract developers and manufacturers in their ranks.
Sergei Alexandrov
Director of strategic projects
of the Eltech SPb
Since the establishment of the Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry we joined in his work and became members of the organization. Since 2013 Alexey Troshin – General Director of Eltech SPb is an expert of Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry. Interaction with the organization goes in a very active mode through participation in exhibitions and events at joint stands. Our experts participate in the discussion of current problems of the industry on the webinars of Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry. Valuable resource – information support of the association. Evaluation of the activities of Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry, without a doubt, the most high. The Association really does a lot for promoting of the activities of the participating companies, development of professional community, expanding of market of innovative products, formation of industry regulations and standards. Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry perhaps the most active among the Russian industry associations of nanoindustry.
Eltech SPb also cooperates with a number of other industry non-governmental organizations. The most active engagement with the Russian division of the international semiconductor industry association SEMI. This year there had been a number of joint consultations on the development of the microelectronics market and other activities of SEMI in Russia. We joined the association in 2010 and for the fourth time became participants of the exhibition SEMICON Russia. This year, with our direct participation was formed business program of the annual forum of the industry of microelectronics, held before the exhibition. The organization has considerable informational and analytical resource that helps us to navigate the processes and trends of the world market of the semiconductor industry. With the activities of the SEMI connected extending interactions with the German Association Silicon Saxony.
This year we became the first Russian member of the European Photonics Industry Consortium EPIC. Members of the consortium are many of our European technology partners and with his assistance we are working on the development of technological trends: solid-state lighting, photovoltaics, components of optics, sensors and optical fibers.
Also in 2014, Eltech SPb joined the Russian Engineering Union and the Swiss-Russian Industrial Business Club, expanded interaction with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. Long-standing relationships connect us with the "Business Russia". With each of these organizations we cooperate on a wide range of issues, from the development of innovation and infrastructure projects in various sectors, interaction with industry and business communities, to the information-analytical support, and promotion of engineering services of our company.
Victor Bykov
CEO of the NT-MDT Co., president
of the Nanotechnological Society of Russia, Chairman of the Russian Scanning Probe Microscopy Society,
D.Sc., Prof.
Nanotechnological Society of Russia, whose President I am, regularly – once a month, conducts seminars on relevant thematic areas. Also we analyze the potential of projects initiated by members of Nanotechnological Society of Russia, and help to prepare them for presentation to the Russian investment funds and development institutions. We work closely with the Advanced Research Foundation.
Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry was established recently and is in the process of formation. Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry conducts analysis of nanoindustry market, collects information about projects of companies and their investment needs.
If the work of NTSR is stable enough, the Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry should be developed to strengthen lobbying opportunities.
Igor
Yaminsky
Director General of the Advanced
Technologies Center Co., Professor
of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, D.Sc.
Our company – Advanced Technologies Center is a member of the Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry. The total number of participants, submitting information about themselves on the website of association, more than 120. In fact, the association started their work in 2013. Meaningful information about the activities of the Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry are represented on the website www.monrf.ru. A good start is half the battle. Quick start of operation of the association must ensure sustainable development for a long time.
The main purpose of the Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry, as of many other public organizations, is to bringing together disparate parties to achieve common progress and significant results. Among them the elimination of administrative and bureaucratic barriers and obstacles, as well as of outdated regulations, promotion and lobbying, consolidation of resources, the development of self-regulation. In other words, work in those areas, where collective action lead to a much more significant effect than the efforts of individuals. The combined efforts leads to super-summary effect.
Of course, Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry is active assistant of project companies of Rusnano, and the Corporation itself. Nanotechnology is a journey into the unknown, where the result should be not only new knowledge, but also practical effect. This way is exciting, but also challenging. The complexity of the process lies in the fact that the development of nanotechnologies takes place simultaneously with the formation of nanotechnology infrastructure and market for nanotechnology products. As a result, the companies of nanoindustry must to solve a triune problem: to create production, to develop innovative products and actively engage with sales. We must be able not only to develop new products, but also to sell it.
Pleased to note, that the Interbranch Association of Nanoindustry is not the only non-profit organization, working for the benefit of nanotechnology. For many years successfully working Nanotechnological Society of Russia. I would like to note the educational mission in the field of nanotechnology, which leads Nanotechnology community "Nanometer" with the portal www.nanometer.ru. It is the collective work of many amazing talents, among which, of course, we should mention Eugene Gudilin, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
At the Moscow state University for many years successfully working under the guidance of academician Alexei Khokhlov Scientific-educational center for nanotechnology (www.nano.msu.ru). The task of the center is not only the preparation and implementation of the courses and workshops, but also a wide educational activities. For example, the original course of educational lectures was widely broadcasted live on the Internet and distributed on DVD. The lectures were open to all visitors.
Of course, a significant contribution to the development of Russian nanotechnology is made by Nanoindustry journal, which is an active explorer of new ideas and achievements. Read the magazine and learn a lot of new and useful things.
Nanotechnology inevitable will lead to a new economic structure. Now taken the first steps. The state, which will go all the way, will rise to the top of Olympus. And this can be done only by joint efforts of a large number of participants, enthusiasts and talents.
Developing and improving our products – scanning probe microscopes FemtoScan – we try to make our nano-contribution, in the success of the Russian nanoindustry. We are open to cooperation and are looking for new friends and colleagues. This year the Advanced Technologies Center with the support of the Moscow Government has launched a new project – the Youth innovation creativity centre "Nanotechnology". The project's goal is to attract young participants to nanotechnology. A detailed story on this was published in the previous issue of the journal "Nanoindustry". The center has developed programs for the youngest of nanotechnologists – primary school students and successful graduates of the higher school.
